Use Notepad or Wordpad to open your HOSTS file. Most people will find it in their WINDOWS folder. Windows NT and Windows 2000 will find it in their WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\ folder. You will also see a file called HOSTS.SAM. That's just a sample file and is not read by your browser.

Notepad Open File Dialog
After you open the file don't change any entries you find. Just add the new entries to the bottom of the list. Be very careful when entering the numbers and site names. If you enter the wrong number the site will not load. Be sure you only put one entry per line and that there is at least one space between the IP number and the domain name.
HOSTS File
Enter the line for ivyjoy.com and any other sites you want to load faster. You can cut and paste this into you HOSTS file:

208.178.180.147 ivyjoy.com

You can enter as many sites as you wish. Remember that entering the IP of 127.0.0.1 is the trick that will block a site while entering the real IP of a site will speed up loading for all pages on that site.

After saving your HOSTS file, you will need to close all browser windows and restart your browser to test your work. The browser only reads this file when it is started.
